The Historic Green Vault (Historisches Grünes Gewölbe) is the treasure chamber of the Saxon kings — one of the oldest museums in Europe and the richest treasury on the continent. Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, created it between 1723 and 1730, opening his private hoard of gold, jewels and marvels to visitors three centuries before the word 'museum' meant what it does today.
Its nine rooms are a work of art in themselves: mirrored walls, gilded consoles and no glass display cases, so that some three thousand objects — the Dresden Green Diamond, Dinglinger's jewelled 'Court of Delhi', vessels of ivory, amber and rock crystal — are seen exactly as Augustus staged them to overwhelm his guests.
It sits inside the Dresden Residenzschloss, the royal palace at the heart of Dresden's baroque old town, a few steps from the Zwinger, the Semperoper and the Frauenkirche. In 2019 a spectacular jewel theft made it famous around the world; the treasure that remains is still the most dazzling in Europe.
Green Vault Tickets is an independent concierge service for international visitors. When you book, we secure your timed admission to the Historic Green Vault through the museum's official ticketing system and deliver your ticket by email. We are not the museum operator (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden) or its official box office.

Yes. The Historic Green Vault admits a limited number of visitors per 15-minute slot to protect the treasures, so popular times sell out days ahead. Booking in advance is the only way to guarantee the date and time you want.
No. The Historic Green Vault (this ticket) shows the treasures in reconstructed baroque rooms and needs a timed slot. The New Green Vault, upstairs, shows more pieces in modern display cases and is part of the general Residenzschloss ticket.
Our price includes the museum's timed ticket plus our concierge service — securing a slot that often sells out, English-language support, mobile e-ticket by email and a refund guarantee if the museum closes.
No — photography and filming are not allowed inside the Historic Green Vault, to protect the treasures and the mirrored interiors. The New Green Vault and the palace courtyards are more relaxed.
Children up to school age enter free; you don't need to book for them. Students, seniors and other concession holders qualify for the reduced rate with valid photo ID.
